Description:
Orange flavored liqueur made from the dried peel of bitter oranges found on the Caribbean island of Curaçao.

Curaçao Liqueur can be colored Orange (Orange Curaçao), Blue (Blue Curaçao), Green (Green Curaçao), Yellow (Yellow Curaçao), Red (Red Curaçao), or left clear (White Curaçao). All the variants have the same flavor with only slight differences in the degree of bitterness. The colors are used to provide a nice hue to mixed drinks, and other cocktail specials.

History:
After crossing the Atlantic ocean, European farmers tried growing oranges on Curaçao (Ano 1800). Given that Curaçao is of volcanic origin and has a very dry climate, the orange crop was unsuccessful due to lack of water. After the farmers abandoned their cultivation, the orange did grow in the wild, but it was too bitter to eat. The peels of these bitter Curaçao oranges, are the secret to the pleasant smell & taste of our Curaçao Liqueur.
