Don Angel J. Leáñez

The Story of 'Caribe Ponche' is a story of fascinating people surfing the ups and downs of history. The rich tradition and legendary quality of Leáñez's products can be traced to the bountiful cultural heritage of Curacao.

Don Angel J. Leáñez emigrated from Venezuela to the picturesque colonial Dutch-Caribbean island of Curacao, in 1918.

His early experiments with the distillation of rum, soon led him to produce his first few cases with ingredients he had imported from France.

Don Leáñez used his original rum blend, in creating the well known cream liqueur Caribe Ponche'.

Increased demand, beyond his friends and family, soon allowed Don Leáñez to move his operations out of the home and into a self-built shop.

D
on Leáñez's many economic & social contributions to the island, and to the trade relations between Curacao and Venezuela, earned him three decorations: one by the Dutch Queen, and two by Venezuelan Presidents.

Decorated as Knight by the Dutch Queen, in 1960.

Don Leáñez's business ideology is the foundation of the firm, Industrias Tip Top Leáñez. The same integrity has been adopted by the second and third generation family members.
